March Export Figures Reflect Strategic Output Management
Iraq’s Ministry of Oil has reported that the country exported over 106 million barrels of crude oil in March 2025, marking a significant increase from February’s figures. The majority of these exports originated from the southern oil fields, with additional volumes from Qayyara and Kirkuk.
The average daily export rate stood at approximately 3.437 million barrels per day (bpd), up from 3.296 million bpd in February. This uptick is attributed to the recovery of key oilfields, including Rumaila, and strategic production adjustments. Despite the increase in export volumes, the Ministry has not disclosed the revenue generated for the month.
Navigating OPEC+ Production Commitments
In line with OPEC+ agreements, Iraq has pledged to adhere to production quotas and has announced plans to submit an updated strategy to compensate for any overproduction in previous months.  The country’s commitment to these agreements underscores its role in maintaining global oil market stability.
Analysts note that Iraq’s efforts to balance increased production with OPEC+ commitments are crucial for sustaining investor confidence and ensuring long-term economic growth.
